Community

The Killie in the Community department has recently added two new members of staff to their team. Alan Mahood and Ian Mundell have both been brought in to assist Paul McDonald in delivering various prjoects in the community.

Current Role:

Kick Start / Support Employment

Alan Mahood has been brought in to run the Clubs Kick Start / Support Employment Programmes (Young People in Need of More Choices, More Chances) in association with the Job Centre Plus and Career Scotland. The project involves encouraging those who are 16+ to come in and get back on the road to employment. The ten week programmes will involve projects that improve interview techniques, employee-employer relations, teamwork and will also encourage them to network as well. In addition, Alan will provide coaching to the students who will be given the opportunity to gain their SFA Early Touches and First Aid Certificates.

Food Standards Agency

Ian Mundell has been working for the club coaching the KFC Pro-Youth U14's for six years now and in addition to that he is now helping the community programmes new projects. The main project Ian will be involved in is in association with the Food Standards Agency, who promote healthy eating, food hygiene and leading an active lifestyle. Initially ten Primary Schools will participate in a six week course, each pupil who participates will also receive KFC goodies and a match ticket. The programme was completed with a fun festival at Rugby Park.

McDonalds and Bank of Scotland

KFC Community Department will also be involved in a number of national and local initiatives, such as the McDonalds Programme. The McDonalds programme involves ten scholls targeting P7 pupils and aims to encourage more participation through its games programme. Another initiative is the Bank of Scotland Soccer One, which targets S1 Boys and S1 to S3 girls. This programme also has a coaching element and a games programme, which is aimed at increasing participation. Both programmes also encourage new coaches and volunteers to be involved in football at grassroots level.

Show Racism the Red Card

KFC Community Department delivered a Show Racism the Red Card workshop and training session to almost every primary school in 2007. We hope to continue to support and promote the Show Racism the Red Card message on a continuous basis. KFC are one of the few SPL clubs that deliver this initiative internally with the support of EAC Leisure Development Department.
